Hi, I’m thinking of selling my store’s merchandise online, but I’m not going to do it on e-bay or anywhere like that. I’m building my own website, or rather will have someone build it. But I’m clueless as to where to start, I know I need an e-commerce platform, but where do I get a really good one; with full features and a small price tag?

That is why I need someone to tell me; which are the to most successful, most widely used systems? I’m looking for the safe bet, well-known companies, the Gmail-Yahoo-Hotmail of the e-commerce world.

Basically, I am looking to purchase a domain with hosting (online of course). The problem is, that I have no credit card (I am under 18 and don’t have parental consent) + the fact that I have {content}.00 in my paypal (due to the foregoing reason). However, I really need to get a domain. Is there any possible way to raise just a little money into my paypal account without the use of credit card/bank transfer?
Or, by any little chance, would you kind souls like to invest in purchasing the domain for me(by transferring a little sum of money to my paypal)? I’m doing internet marketing with this domain I’m purchasing and am sure to rake in profits. Thus, be sure that I will return you the money lent with high interest on it. (please don’t mark this as a violation, I’m just highly desperate…)
My third question : What would be a good site to purchase domain and hosting? From several sources I see that GoDaddy is extremely popular… As well as HostGator. My personal choice in mind is JustHost.com, recommended by a friend. It offers hosting with free domain, at merely .95 per month. May I ask the opinion of you people, which is the best provider?

Just to add, I’m Singaporean (Asian if you’d prefer in general), and I think the culture of parenting here is much different compared to that of the west. Simply said, my parents are strict and all and they refer to what I’m doing as ‘a waste of time’ and they would ask me to go study every time I mention this. This is the reason why ‘I don’t have parental consent’. And I was wondering if I could send cash over snail-mail….

My current hosting provider is Yahoo and they have MySQL version 4.1 (no problem there – it has InnoDB tables), but they only allow me to create MyISAM tables, which won’t cut it for my app.
When I Google for web hosting, I get pages like "The 10 Best Hosting Services!" –once I traced the IP/domain of the #1 company on the list, and guess what? They were the ones who published this "survey" through another name! Shysters.
